EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Marlo Holloway-Burris is the daughter of the late Herman M. Holloway Jr. who founded the Martin Luther King Center over 40 years ago. Marlo is a government retiree who concluded her career with the State of Delaware’s Office of the Public Defender in 2020. Upon retirement, she immediately began working alongside her father at the center. Under his mentorship, Marlo was trained closely in the role as Executive Director with the goal of eventually transitioning into the position so that he could retire. Drawing from her extensive background as a paralegal and her familiarity with the criminal court system, she became his Assistant Director and trusted “go-to” person. Her legal expertise and network of attorney resources proved invaluable in resolving legal matters for clients entangled in the Delaware court and prison systems.

About Marlo Holloway - Burris

In addition to her administrative role, she accompanied her father to his televised community show "Herman Holloway Jr. Live" assisting in the studio and managing live-streams across social media platforms. Her day-to-day responsibilities included constant communication with clients, public officials, community activists, and faith-based organizations. She also engaged in community outreach by attending board meetings and neighborhood events, while acting as a liaison by interviewing potential clients in need of support. She managed the King Center’s social media presence and helped extend the organization’s reach and visibility.

After officially assuming the role of Executive Director in 2024, she has continued her father’s legacy by providing critical emergency assistance to individuals and families facing rent, utility, and housing instability. Under her leadership, the organization has expanded its impact by supporting local fundraisers, assisting with funeral expenses, and distributing food and essential supplies to families in need. She has also successfully launched two transformative programs: Citizens of the Future, which promotes financial literacy, including cryptocurrency and stock trading education, and King Center Transportation, a paratransit service designed to address the transportation needs of senior citizens in the community.
